I had just finished posting my top 10 instagramable ice creams in London and was glad of two things. I won’t be eating ice cream for the sake of blogging in the immediate future and that the post covered all the instagram worthy ice cream places that I could think of. Then two days later Soft Republick opened.

Most pop up shops make it obvious they’re not here to stay, therefore the interior isn’t the focus of the place. Consider Naked Dough with their branding on one wall and an inflatable flamingo on the floor and that’s pretty much it. Soft Republick however, went all out with their detailed chalkboard menu, neon lighting, golden framed photos of their ice creams to even a Polaroid Hall of Fame.
So it was a thumbs up on the general appearance and vibe of the store, then there’s the fun menu. Customers choose either a ‘hot dog’ or ‘burger’ (£5) not actual ones but choux pastry filled with soft serve ice cream and toppings of their choice, they really do look awesome! Or the ‘Magic box’ (£5) which looks like a Chinese takeout box and therefore comes with its own chocolate chopsticks, along with soft serve and choux.
If you’d rather not have pastry you can opt for the traditional wafer ‘loaded cone’ (£3) which comes with a funny looking card tray but hey if it means there’s more topping and less mess then why not.

My personal favourite was the ‘Coffee float’ (£3.50) It was National Ice Cream Day and I was going to celebrate by having ice cream for breakfast (I literally did at 10am in the morning). Getting my caffeine and dessert fix all in one with the affogato soft ice cream and shot of espresso.
I must’ve been buzzing as I even agreed to be snapped up for their hall of fame.

Soft Republick will be running till early September in Old Spitalfields Market, 16 Horner Square, London E1 6EW.
